I am not to sure what is going on with tribe...
there never seems to be any communication from administration regarding the problems logging on...
I love tribe..
i Love the format...
i love that it is NOT a Den of censorship...
we love Wendy...
but I have to tell you that when Tribe's LOG ON...
Says that it is DOWN For "Scheduled Maintanance" DURRING THE DAY On a SAT or SUN...
it makes it Look like Tribe does not give a Rats BUTT about its users...
STOP Saying it is a 'Schedualed maintanance'...
if it is NOT (Scheduled) It makes you LOOK BAD.
Makes those who use the site think you DO NOT CARE About us.
How about starting to LET people KNOW what the problems are... ?
Seems like there would be ALOT more patcience and understanding...
and a Desire to Support Tribe if we can...
Not an Adversarial relationship...
MAKE US A PART OF THE TEAM!

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Tue, March 3, 2009 - 1:11 PMIt was scheduled, just with short notice because we were not sure exactly when it would happen. The previous time we'd planned for and announced a month ago didn't happen and the site remained up.
We are doing our best to get information out about scheduled down time, and then posting updated information about current problems and status. Check blog.tribe.net for the official word. -

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"

Tribe has been DOWN as Much as Up ...
from time to time, for months now...

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 2:48 PMYes, we were moving the servers, and that took all weekend:

Other scheduled maintenance periods have generally been from 1-3 am for database maintenance.

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 3:16 AMNo it hasn't (been down as much as up). Tribe is rarely down.
It doesn't take but a few moments to check the Company Blog. I have it on my home page. I have the tribe bookmarked via the Tribe bookmarking function too.
And it helps to pay attention to what is going on with the technical/management side. Bookmark all these tribes:
blog.tribe.net/
bugs.tribe.net/
brainstorm.tribe.net/
tribes.tribe.net/goldstarclub
When you are online, you can check your bookmarks to see if there are any new posts. You'll see the new post show up in the bookmarks from the Company Blog before it shows up on your home page. Also read any replies that are in the Blog tribe, since ONLY employees post there.
Bugs will have people mentioning things and the staff answering or talking about when the down time might occur.
Brainstorm will have mentions of new features, and when they might be implemented (or fixing something that broke).
Gold Star has Darren drop by and Shatter does help with things like the moving that occurred recently.
I don't know if you have seen this image, or if this image is of tribe, but what a mess!:

If it's anything like that, yes, it would take awhile to unplug, move, and replug all that stuff back in. It's not like moving dishes, where some can be packed while leaving one plate to eat off of. LOL! Once plugs start being pulled, there is no turning back. That's my guess anyway.

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 2:46 PMI'm currently using a profile that I didn't disable the customizable little tribe modules on my home page. I remember when you switched how we all scoffed at the idea that we would ever want to be bothered again with the front end of Tribe.. DOH and deleted that little box along with the calender and everything else we never thought we would never use.
I imagine 90 percent or better did the same thing.. lol How you could now notify them all that you were scheduling maintenance is an email and you can't mass mail us.. ?? something about spam? Dilemma -

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 3:51 PMOh! You can add that back in! It's not gone.
Go to: Home
Click on: Customize your homepage
That "customize" link is located right at the top:
(tribe logo)... home... my... browse... post... customize your homepage
Big page of information here:
sanfrancisco.tribe.net/templa...ist.vm#
I don't see the link to add the Company Blog back in. What it would be called on the module page? I have the Company Blog module already.
Tribe gets the news out to us the best, fastest, and most efficient way, via the blog. When they say that there are still some problems and that the site may be taken down between 1 and 3 AM during the week, without specifying days, that's still "scheduled" in my opinion. And if it turns out the be something that cannot be repaired in that time frame, they can't exactly stop and not fix it.
It's not just the tech world, it's the whole world. Car repairs. Road work. The items being repaired cannot be used for their purpose while being repaired.
There have been noticeable improvements in all aspects. But just like the road that was too extensive to keep up on, it will take some time to repair or replace the infrastructure. -

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 10:00 PMYeah I know you can re add modules but busy people forget these things... and I'm not complaining I think that things have improved immensely since the new crew came in to help and grateful.. just throwing out the idea that while they are notifying us through the blog and it might show up on your homepage.. if you deleted the module you wouldn't necessarily think to look in customize for an answer as to why the site was fooked.. 2cents nuttin more.. -

Re: ok this seems important~ about "Scheduled Maintanance"
Fri, March 6, 2009 - 12:14 PMThere are still some broken features (like homepage announcements) that we still haven't been able to address yet. In addition, the company blog feed seems to have broken after the move. We're trying to resolve this one and get the automatic feed update server working again well. -
