When someone puts a "flag" on a photo, it should also post their tribe name as well to Identify who is going around and flagging nearly every single photo. As it is now, one can go through & flag every photo in a tribe with no accountability whatsoever. I'm saying that some folks are abusing the flag system.
I, myself, have never felt the need to flag a photo. I think it should be removed totally IMHO.

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 7:35 AMHi Chopper. If you think that someone may be abusing the flagging system, please be sure to contest the flagging of your photos by clicking on the link in the flag notification message you receive. Leave a comment too, and your photo will be reviewed. If it's found to be in violation of our TOU, then it will be removed and you'll be notified. If it doesn't violate our Terms, the photo will be reinstated, and we'll determine whether or not the flagging was malicious. Thanks! -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 8:31 AMWhen someone flags a photo, it should show WHO flagged it for accountability. I'm not taking the time to send in all of my photos in my tribe for review because some nut case decided to go through & flag them all.
If it is a nudity issue for minors, I can understand that but I have NONE of those. And there is a setting for that anyway or there used to be which, makes flagging a bit over-the-top anyway. -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 12:13 PMPhotos can be flagged by either tribe staff, the Community, or a combination. Please contest just a couple of the photos, so that we can see if there's a pattern. .we can then deal with the abuser! -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 12:26 PMJust goto my "Separation of Church & State" tribe too see all of the flagged photos. Again, flags should also contain the one who flags the pic for accountability. It would detour flag abuse as well. -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Sat, April 28, 2007 - 4:20 PMChopper's right. It's ridiculous that people can flag annoymously. It's way too Stasi/KGB, like unidentied informers everywhere. It's weird and annoying. It shoud be the opposite -- if someone has a problem with a photo, the PRIMARY route should be that they flag it As a secondary route, if somebody fears reprisal or something, they should be able to privately contact Tribe and ask that the photo(s) be looked into.

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Tue, July 8, 2008 - 7:18 AMAfter all this time, *NOTHING* has been changed regarding the FLAG situation. Why have a tribe suggestion/recommendation tribe to point out problems at all. the flag abuse has been going on for 2 YEARS now.
Either get rid of the flags completely or make the persons user name and pic available so they have to be held accountable for flag abuse.
It's like a different form of spam. Every single pic in several tribes I mod are flagged. Here's just one example from the solar mythology tribe:

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Wed, November 19, 2008 - 7:45 AMThe abuse of the "flag" still continues - nobody from tribe has ever said a single word - even *AFTER* I sent a message to them months ago letting them know of the abuse & about this thread. What is it going to take to get this issue taken care of? This issue has been brought up since April 23, 2007 at least. -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Thu, November 20, 2008 - 8:29 AMOkay, it looks like the flags have been removed - every single photo was flagged!!! Someone was going through that tribe just to flag every single photo. -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Sun, November 23, 2008 - 12:32 AMThe privacy controls are pretty primitive. So are the offensensitivy controls (kaiser.dreamhost.com/OT_stuf...ty.jpg). We're doing our best with what we've got, making a few minor but critical fixes in this iteration, and planning a system for a new release that will provide far more fine grained control.
There are some issues with nudity with advertisers. There are some contractual issues that mandate the terms in the COC and TOU, but we're working to alleviate those issues as they are in general not congruent with the Tribe community and Tribe's support of free speech and diversity.
We'll respond as quickly as we can to any abuse of the current systems while we work to put better ones in place. -

Re: ABUSE OF THE "FLAG"
Fri, May 22, 2009 - 11:46 PMThese are just links to the tribes -- if you'd like us to examine these, please provide the direct links to what's been flagged, or better yet, respond to the notice that your photo has been flagged. That will appear in the flagging system for us and we can then reverse and punish the flagger, if necessary. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

Do you get a notice as mod ? Or is it the person who posted it ? Or both ?
Thanks -
