so these new blinky flash ads on tribe are MEGA annoying. well if you use firefox there's a way to solve that by blocking them entirely, but yet still retaining the capability to play them if you want. it puts in a little gray placeholder instead. if you for some reason decide you want to play the ad, simply click the placeholder and it will play. don't like the ad once you've clicked? refresh the page and it's gone again.
flashblock.mozdev.org/index.html
at the moment the link doesn't work on the install page. instead go to this page:
mozdev.sweetooth.org/flashblock/
and choose "flashblock-1.2.5.xpi"
notice at the bottom is "uninstall_flashblock.xpi" - this is what you need to choose if, ONLY AFTER trying it, you decide to uninstall. (but i have no idea why you would.) if you click it now you'll only uninstall what you just installed!
you must then restart firefox TWICE for it to install fully. it works beautifully. i am blissfully ad-free. YAAAAAAAY!!!!
there is also an extension for regular banner ads called "Adblock" that blocks them at the source. it's highly rated but i haven't tried it yet. here's the link:

Re: firefox = GOODBYE FLASH ADS!
Wed, December 22, 2004 - 2:46 PMAlso try this ad blocking hosts file. Been using it for a while and it works like a charm with any browser, much improved now that I've switched over to Firefox.

Wed, December 22, 2004 - 6:53 PMOr just use the adblock plugin. Hint to Tribe - people don't filter Google ads.
